I’VE BEEN OUT OF SCHOOL SINCE MARCH 2005 AND I HAVENT GONE ANYWHERE. SURE I WORK HARD FOR ALL THIS YEARS AND MADE A DECENT SALARY BUT WHY I HAVENT GONE TO THE CORPORATE LADDER. LOOKING BACK I GUESS THERE ARE A FEW REASONS WHY I NEVER EXCELLED.
1. LACK OF WELL-DEFINED DIRECTION SUCH AS HAVING LONG AND SHORT TERM GOALS IN LIFE
I don’t have a purpose in life, am like a ship without a destination. First and foremost before I jump in bandwagon of my career, I should have known what my objectives and goals in life are. Having a proper objective will help us visualize what career path we want to engage in.
2. LACK THE DESIRE AND AMBITION TO RISE ABOVE THE OTHERS
We can achieve anything we put are minds on. The product of weak desire is weak results, so the same with the strong desire in harmony with strong results. Dreams are fueled by our strong desire and this desire motivates us to do everything we can to be successful. However dreams are worthless if we don’t have the desire to rise above others.
3. AFRAID TO FACE CHALLENGES AND RISK
Refusing to take risk will definitely leads you to nowhere. Every step we take involves risk. Simple things such as getting in the car every morning put you at risk to any potential danger with other drivers. Your willingly to drive regardless of the risk involves of setting ones mind on the prize ahead. In every risk and challenges there is an equal benefit. However I haven’t realize this until recently my dad pass away.
4. THE ABSENSE OF ABILITY TO TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR LIFE
I usually blame others for my success and failures in life. I habitually do this every time I failed, never did I realize that in everything I do there is an equal reaction. Whatever I experience in life is simply the results of what my decisions in the past.
Blaming others for our success and failures is the habit of an irresponsible individual. We should understand that whatever circumstances we have in life is the product of our own decisions. It is only appropriate to choose a course of action that can give us lasting benefits. When life gives you lemon, try to make an effort to transform it into lemonade.
5. THE LACK OF SELF DISCIPLINE
Never did I train myself to succumb in any strict codes and credos. I’m overly self centered that I lack the ability to think clearly that what habits I have today is synonymous to my life in the near future. Self control is the most important factors to succeed. Using this as a slave rather than a master will help you take hold of your life Discipline is what makes a person smart and it will keep his mind at work.
6. INSUFFICIENT KNOWLEDGE AND LACK OF A MAIN FOCUS
Taking up journalism, I consider writing is tantamount to express myself. As I go along, I have perceived that you need all the knowledge you can have to make your writings readable and understandable. The main purpose of writing is to inform and update nothing else.
In every endeavor we take, we need to have a master plan to keep our mind into focus. The Jack of all trades and master of none can’t be used when you’re striving for something to acquire. You need to focus on one idea a t the same time.
7. HEALTH PROBLEMS
Inadequate sleep and overindulgence with alcoholic drinks will give you disturbance. You cannot achieve stability if your health is suffering. To maximize your chances of having a good life, you must start nourishing yourself with healthy food and habits.
8. PROCRASTINATION AND INDECISION
Don’t waste your time thinking and waiting for the right time to start your career race. Just like what I did before.
The time will always be right if you have been fueled with confidence in yourself and courage to face any obstacles that may come your way. Take little steps at a time and it will surely make a difference that indulging yourself with procrastination and indecision.
9. INTOLERANCE TO FEELINGS OF DISCOMFORT
I hate being uncomfortable at all times. I haven’t realize that my intolerance for discomfort is my tranquilizer from experiencing worthwhile skills and knowledge that can be seen in a working environment full of pressures and hardship.
Even if you lack self confidence and are afraid of failing, tolerance will keep you moving. Your willingness to pursue your dream will be gauge on how tolerant you are to undergo any discomfort just to reach it.
10. THE FANTASY OF ACHIEVING SOMETHING FOR NOTHING
Success cannot be achieved overnight, you need to work hard. The world is usually unfair and you need to struggle in order to get something.
